What's the Recovery Process Like After Getting All on 4 Dental Implants?

What Is The All-on-4® Recovery Process Like?

Day One

After surgery, expect that your oral surgeon will place pieces of gauze over the implant sites until they stop bleeding. You’ll be asked to gently bite into the gauze to apply pressure.

After sixty minutes, you can start changing the gauze pads and then continue changing every thirty minutes. 

For the first few days, avoid touching or disturbing the sites. It’s normal to feel discomfort but don’t worry, the discomfort will subside over time. 

Smoking is highly discouraged as it hampers the healing process.

Twenty-four hours following surgery you can start rinsing your mouth with water mixed with salt but only when the bleeding stops. Add a tablespoon of table salt and mix it with eight ounces of warm water. Do it three times a day.  

Days Two to Five 

During the first couple of days after dental implant surgery, you’ll be required to rest. Avoid exercising or lifting heavy objects.  

The rationale behind this is to avoid heavy bleeding. It’s also normal to feel lightheaded so if you change positions from lying to standing, do it slowly.
